Frequently Asked Questions about Hiring a Snake Dancer for Event Entertainment

1. What is a snake dancer?

A snake dancer is a performer who incorporates live snakes into their dance, creating a mesmerizing and exotic experience. Snake dancing blends fluid, hypnotic movements with the natural grace of a snake, making for an unforgettable performance.

2. What’s it really like working with a live snake?

Hiring a snake dancer is basically like hiring two performers—except one of them is a total diva! Think of the snake as a celebrity guest star with their own backstage demands. Here’s what goes on behind the scenes:
• Shedding: Just like a performer needs their best costume, snakes need their best skin! If a snake is close to shedding, they’ll be off duty (because no one wants to perform when they’re itchy and moody).
• Feeding Schedule: Snakes have specific feeding days, and trust me—you don’t want to schedule a performance right after a big meal. That’s a “do not disturb” kind of situation.
• Transporting: Snakes don’t just roll up to a gig in an Uber. They require warm, comfortable, and secure enclosures for travel. Extreme temperatures? Not happening.
• Socializing: Some snakes love the spotlight, while others prefer to pull a Houdini and disappear. That’s why it’s totally valid to ask, “How many snakes do you have?”—because a seasoned performer like Barefoot Daisy brings multiple snakes! The one in the show might not be the best for meet-and-greet moments, so an extra, more social snake is brought along for guest interactions.

3. What types of events can a snake dancer perform at?

Snake dancers add an unforgettable element to:
• Weddings & Engagement Parties
• Zodiac Birthday Celebrations (especially for Year of the Snake!)
• Corporate Events & Grand Openings
• Festivals & Cultural Celebrations
• Luxury Resort Entertainment
• Themed Parties (Arabian Nights, Mystical, Jungle, etc.)
• Private Parties & VIP Events

4. What unique choreographed performances does Barefoot Daisy offer?

Barefoot Daisy offers a variety of themed, choreographed performances for different styles and event themes, including:
• The Asian Lady White Snake Anime – A mystical, cinematic performance inspired by the legendary tale of the White Snake.
• Island Jungle Safari – A tribal fusion piece that transports guests to an exotic, tropical world.
• Egyptian Wadjet – A tribute to the powerful serpent goddess of ancient Egypt, featuring hypnotic bellydance movements.
• Bellydance After Dark – A sultry and mysterious performance with mesmerizing snake-like undulations.
• Loki (Viking Boho Style) – A fusion of Norse mythology and bohemian vibes, telling a story of magic and transformation.

👉 All choreographed performances require setting up a rug for floor work to ensure safety and comfort during the performance.

5. Can guests interact with the snake?

Yes, but with some considerations. Not all snakes want to socialize after a big performance—sometimes they just want to chill. That’s why an extra snake is often brought along just for meet-and-greet sessions. Guests can take photos with the snake under supervision, but interaction is always based on the snake’s comfort level.

6. What are the venue requirements for a snake dance performance?
• Temperature Control: No extreme cold! Indoor venues must provide a backstage area where the snake can stay warm. Once the performer is warmed up, indoor performances are comfortable.
• Meet & Greet Areas: Recommended to be outdoors. If indoors, a special travel enclosure is provided to keep the snake warm between interactions.
• Flooring: A level, non-slip dance floor is required. Rugs are available if needed. Choreographed performances require setting up a rug for floor work.

7. Are snake dances safe?

Yes! The snakes used are non-venomous and well-socialized. Professional snake dancers prioritize both audience and animal safety and are trained in responsible handling.

8. What if someone at the event is afraid of snakes?

It’s always good to give guests a heads-up if a snake will be part of the entertainment. If needed, the performer can adjust the routine to minimize direct interactions.

9. How far in advance should I book a snake dancer?

Snake dancing isn’t just a performance—it’s an art, and top performers are in high demand. Booking at least six months in advance is recommended, especially for holidays and peak event seasons.

10. Are deposits required to book a snake dancer?

Yes! Deposits are required to secure your booking. This ensures you’re getting a professional, insured, and highly trained performer.

11. What’s the next step to book a snake dancer?

Simply contact the performer with your event details, including date, location, and type of event. Be prepared to place a deposit to lock in your booking.

For a one-of-a-kind, unforgettable performance, hire Barefoot Daisy—where dance meets mystique, and every snake is a star!

Frequently Asked Questions about Booking a Photo Shoot or MusicVideo with a Snake

1. How much does it cost to book a live snake for a photo shoot?

Pricing depends on the type of shoot, location, and number of snakes involved. Below are the base rates:

• Standard Photo Shoot: $350 (1-hour session, includes 1 snake and handler)
• Premium Photo Shoot: $500 (Up to 2 hours, 2 snakes, and guided posing instruction)
• Quinceañera/Sweet 16 Photo Shoot: $450 (1.5-hour session, includes symbolism of shedding & growth, styled with theme)

Additional fees apply for long-distance travel or specialized snake requests.

2. How much does it cost to book a live snake for a music video?

Snakes add an unforgettable element to music videos! Pricing varies based on the complexity of the shoot:
• Basic Music Video Package: $500 (1-hour on set, 1 snake, handler included)
• Premium Music Video Package: $750 (Up to 2 hours, 2 snakes, guided interaction for best visuals)
• Full Production Day: $1,200+ (Multiple snakes, creative direction, and on-set snake movement coaching)

💡 For high-energy sets with dancers, props, and elaborate staging, it’s best to schedule a consultation to discuss logistics and ensure a smooth production.

3. How far in advance should I book?

Booking at least six months in advance is highly recommended, especially for busy seasons, holiday shoots, and high-demand dates. Snakes are living performers, and their schedules (yes, they have schedules too—shedding, feeding, and socializing) must be planned accordingly.
• Photo Shoots: Minimum 2-4 weeks, but 6 months is best
• Music Videos: Minimum 1-2 months, preferably 6 months for elaborate productions

High-demand seasons book up quickly, so early reservations secure your preferred date and snake selection.

4. Are deposits required?

Yes, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. Due to the specialized nature of working with live animals, last-minute cancellations are not permitted.
• Photo Shoots: 50% deposit required at booking
• Music Video Shoots: 50% deposit required, final payment due on the day of the shoot

5. Can I choose a specific snake for my shoot?

Yes! You can request a certain size, color, or species. Barefoot Daisy works with her personal snakes and is approved by The Reptile Agenda to provide additional snakes if needed. Availability may vary, so booking well in advance ensures the best match for your vision.

6. What’s it like working with a live snake?

Think of hiring a snake like hiring an additional performer—and yes, they can be divas. Their needs must be factored in, including:
• Shedding cycles (Snakes won’t perform if they’re shedding!)
• Feeding schedules (They need to be well-fed but not too full before a shoot.)
• Temperament & Socializing (Some snakes love attention, others just want to hide.)

This is why asking how many snakes a performer has is a valid question—some snakes are better suited for meet & greets, while others shine in performance. Barefoot Daisy always brings backup snakes to ensure a smooth experience.

7. Can I book a snake shoot if I’ve never handled a snake before?

Absolutely! Before the session, Barefoot Daisy will teach you how to guide the snake’s movements for the best shots. The handler will also be on set to ensure a comfortable and safe experience.

8. Are snake shoots safe?

Yes! The snakes used are non-venomous, well-socialized, and accustomed to handling. The handler is present at all times to ensure safety and proper interaction.

9. What should I wear?

Your outfit should match the theme and vibe of your shoot. Here are some suggestions:
• Goddess/Fantasy Shoots: Flowing dresses, metallics, gold jewelry
• Edgy/Dark Aesthetic: Leather, bold makeup, high-fashion looks
• Quinceañera/Sweet 16: Elegant gowns that complement the transformation symbolism
• Music Videos: Theme-dependent, but avoid anything sharp or restrictive

💡 Avoid sharp jewelry or accessories that could catch on the snake’s skin.

10. Can Barefoot Daisy recommend a photographer or videographer?

Yes! She works with top photographers and videographers who specialize in creating stunning snake imagery. Let her know your vision, and she’ll connect you with the right creative team.

11. What if the venue, theme, or shoot doesn’t align with Barefoot Daisy’s brand?

Barefoot Daisy takes great care in honoring the energy and presence of live snakes in her performances and shoots. If a project doesn’t align with her vision, she will happily refer you to other performers who match your vibe.

💡 Live snakes are not just props—they are performers. Treating them with respect ensures the best experience for everyone involved.

What Does “Kahu” Mean?

In Hawaiian culture, a Kahu is a caretaker or guardian. In the context of working with live animals, Barefoot Daisy acts as a Kahu for the snakes she works with—ensuring their well-being while also creating a seamless and magical experience for clients.
