There’s something truly magical about collaborating with a team of seasoned wedding professionals, especially when the setting is a breathtaking new venue like Bahia Bay Resort in Key Largo. This intimate destination wedding venue is designed for couples looking for a private, tropical escape, and I had the pleasure of being part of a promotional photo shoot that showcases all it has to offer.

From the moment I arrived, I could feel the creative energy buzzing. Every vendor on site—handpicked and approved to represent Bahia Bay’s wedding experience—brought their A-game, ensuring that the resort’s new website would be filled with stunning content. Stacia Morgan Photography captured every detail with her signature artistry, even stepping into the water with me to get the perfect Dragon’s Breath fire-breathing shot. It’s incredible how, in that moment, the fire trailed back like the head of a dragon, turning to look at me—Barefoot Daisy—as if the flame itself was alive. If this is something that you would like to experience at your beach wedding visit Islamorada Barefoot Fire Dance’s wedding packages online.

A Team of Wedding Experts

The beauty of working with professionals who do this week in and week out is the high-vibration energy that fills the space. Every vendor understands their role and how it contributes to the bigger picture of creating a seamless, luxury wedding experience. Key Destination Events designed elegant wedding setups that complemented the tropical charm of Bahia Bay. My fire performance wardrobe was carefully designed to match their vision, ensuring that even the entertainment fits within the aesthetic of the venue.

Lashes and Curls worked their magic on my makeup, and behind the scenes, Stacia Morgan didn’t just capture the final shots—she documented the moments in between, the laughter, the focus, and the artistry that goes into making each scene come to life.

More Than a Venue—An Experience

Bahia Bay Resort isn’t just a wedding venue; it’s an experience. The property offers everything from paddle boarding and yoga to tennis, making it the perfect place for a wedding weekend filled with adventure and relaxation. This photo shoot captured not just the beauty of the space but the energy, excitement, and intimate moments that couples and their guests will feel when celebrating here.

I can’t wait to share more once the revamped website goes live, but for now, here’s a sneak peek at the magic we created. Stay tuned for the official launch of Bahia Bay Resort as the newest dream wedding destination in Key Largo!

Behind the Scenes: What It’s Like to Book a Snake for a Photo Shoot or Music Video

Island Safari Photo Shoot with Live Snake
Let’s be real—if you’re thinking about booking a live snake for a photo shoot or music video, you’re already someone with incredible taste. Nothing turns heads quite like a stunning serpent draped effortlessly over your shoulders or coiling through a dramatic pose.

But before you dive in, let’s talk about what actually goes on behind the scenes when you book a pro snake dancer like Barefoot Daisy for your shoot. Spoiler alert: snakes are total divas, and working with them is nothing like handling a prop.

Why Book a Snake? Three words: Bold Statement Piece!

📸 Photoshoots – Great for editorials, luxury, high-fashion… Snakes bring that extra touch of power and mystique.
🎥 Music Videos – Want your visuals to scream iconic? Working with a live snake is worth the impact of the artistic outcome.
🎂 Quinceañera & Sweet Sixteen Shoots – Representing growth, transformation, and stepping into your next era like a total goddess.
🐍 Sessions with Your Own Snake – Because you and your snake deserve pro-level posing guidance.

The Reality of Working with a Snake (AKA, the Star of the Show)

1. The Snake Decides If They’re Feeling It

Listen, snakes have moods, just like people (but with fewer opinions about the catering table). If they’re shedding, digesting, or just not in the vibe, we adjust accordingly. That’s why flexibility is key—a comfortable snake means better shots and smooth movement.

2. Extra Time is Your Best Friend

Unlike human models, snakes don’t exactly follow pose directions. Need a stunning coil around your arm? They’ll get there when they feel like it. Give yourself some wiggle room in your schedule to capture the best natural moments.

3. Handling & Safety First

Whether it’s your first time touching a snake or you’re a total reptile pro, Barefoot Daisy will coach you through the best ways to move, pose, and handle the snake gracefully. Expect to learn a few tricks along the way—because yes, even snakes have their best angles.

4. Not Every Snake is a Meet-and-Greet Type

Some snakes love the camera but hate the post-shoot social scene. If your session includes guest interactions, an extra social butterfly (or should we say, social snake?) may be brought along just for that.

Special Sessions: Quinceañeras, Sweet Sixteens & Posing with Your Own Snake

✨ Quinceañera & Sweet Sixteen Shoots
Snakes are a symbol of transformation, making them a perfect choice for milestone birthday shoots. It’s like shedding your old self and stepping into a new, powerful era—but with way cooler photos.

What to Know About Booking a Snake Dancer

3/21/2025

Welcome to Barefoot Daisy’s Blog, where I share behind-the-scenes stories of fire, dance, and the magic that happens when I bring my art to life. Today, we’re diving into what you need to know before booking a snake dancer—because when a live snake is involved, the performance isn’t just about the dancer; it’s about creating the right conditions for both the performer and the snake to shine.

More Than a Prop—A Dance Partner

When people see me perform with a live snake, they often assume it’s just an exotic prop. But here’s the truth: dancing with a snake is like working with an entirely separate performer—one with its own personality, preferences, and moods. Some nights, my snake flows with me effortlessly, mirroring my movements as if we’ve rehearsed a duet a hundred times. Other nights? Well, let’s just say my dance partner decides it’s time for an unscheduled break, and I have to adapt on the fly!

Each snake I work with has its own unique temperament. Some are natural-born stars, comfortable with movement, music, and the energy of a crowd. Others prefer to be admired from a distance, making them better suited for meet-and-greet sessions rather than center stage. That’s why I always bring additional snakes—because just like dancers, they have their “on” and “off” days.

Things to Consider When Booking a Snake Dancer

Booking a snake dance performance is different from hiring a regular dancer. Here are a few key things to keep in mind:

1. The Snake’s Well-Being Comes First

Snakes have specific care requirements, and if the conditions aren’t right, they won’t perform. Before confirming a booking, I always consider:
• Shedding Schedule: A snake that’s about to shed won’t be in the mood to dance.
• Feeding Time: Snakes need time to digest their meals, so performances can’t be scheduled too close to feeding.
• Travel & Temperature: Snakes are cold-blooded and need a warm, stable environment. Outdoor performances in cold weather or direct sunlight may not be possible.

If I turn down a booking or make special requests, it’s not me being picky—it’s about ensuring the safety and well-being of the snake, which should always be a priority when hiring a professional.

2. Themed Snake Performances & Choreography

I offer themed snake dance performances that blend storytelling with movement. Some of my most requested acts include:
• The Asian Lady White Snake Anime – Inspired by the legendary White Snake folklore.
• Island Jungle Safari – A tropical jungle goddess performance.
• Egyptian Wadjet – A tribute to the ancient serpent goddess of Egypt.
• Bellydance After Dark – A sensual, shadow-and-light performance.
• Loki (Viking Boho Style) – A fusion of Norse mythology and dance.

Each of these acts includes floor work, so a proper surface (such as a rug or dance floor) is needed for safety and comfort.

3. Snake Performances Are Not for Every Event

There are times when I have to decline a request—not because I don’t want to perform, but because my snake has diva standards (and rightfully so!).

Here’s when a snake performance might not be the best fit:
• The event is too loud or overstimulating. Fireworks, booming bass, or chaotic movement can stress the snake.
• The temperature is unsuitable. If it’s too cold or too hot, I won’t risk my snake’s health.
• The requested handling is unrealistic. If the vision involves unsafe poses or excessive handling, I’ll kindly suggest an alternative.

These are concerns any professional snake dancer would have, so if I decline a performance, it’s because the situation isn’t ideal for the snake.

Booking a Snake for Photo Shoots

Snakes also make a stunning addition to photo shoots! Whether it’s a fashion editorial, a quinceañera, a mystical wedding, or a themed shoot, a snake adds an unforgettable visual element.

Since snakes move at their own pace, patience is key. A photoshoot isn’t about posing the snake—it’s about working with its natural movements to create stunning, organic imagery.
The Kahu Mindset: A Performer and a Guardian

In Hawaiian culture, the word Kahu refers to someone who is a guardian or caretaker. That’s exactly how I see my role as a snake dancer. I am responsible for the well-being of my snakes, ensuring they are treated with respect in every performance.

If an event, theme, or production doesn’t align with that respectful approach, I’ll kindly refer you to another performer who might be a better fit. Because when you book a snake dancer, you aren’t just hiring an entertainer—you’re welcoming another living being into your creative vision.

A Fiery Snake CharmingWedding in The Florida Keys by Islamorada Barefoot Fire Dance

Here’s a stunning example of dancing with a live snake! In this performance, Barefoot Daisy gracefully moves with Jax, a lively and curious companion, while wearing an elegant fire headdress. This unique fusion of bellydance, fire, and live snake movement was performed on the beach for a wedding couple who are also snake Kahus, making the experience even more meaningful.

Key Destination Wedding and Events did an excellent job coordinating the perfect staging area, ensuring an enchanting atmosphere for this one-of-a-kind performance. In the background, my fire safety assistant remains ready and alert, demonstrating the importance of both artistry and safety in such an intricate act.

Jax, though not my biggest snake, was full of energy and eager to explore, adding an interactive and organic feel to the dance. When working with live snakes, it’s essential to understand their behavior and ensure they feel comfortable in the performance environment. Combining that with the added element of fire requires careful planning, proper training, and a deep connection with both the fire and the animal.

This performance is a perfect example of how cultural dance, fire flow arts, and the presence of live animals can come together to create a truly unforgettable experience for special occasions.
